Since founding Beach Eye Care in 1991 as a solo ophthalmologist, Dr. G. Peyton Neatrour has been transforming eye care in Coastal Virginia Beach by blending expertise with a genuine, compassionate approach. His spirit and unwavering commitment have grown the practice into a comprehensive ophthalmology and optometry center with multiple locations. Today, it stands as a full-service eye care facility, offering a wide range of services including optical and contact lens care.
Leading the Way in Coastal Virginia Beach
Dr. Neatrour’s career is a testament to his dedication to advancing eye care. From performing the first corneal flap procedures in the region to introducing groundbreaking technologies like SMILE and the Light Adjustable Lens, he’s consistently exceeded expectations in his field.
Since 1997, he has performed more laser vision correction procedures in Coastal Virginia than any other surgeon. His journey includes pioneering moments such as performing LASIK live on NBC Channel 10 News in 1998, explaining the procedure for the public, and performing an Intacs insertion procedure live on MSNBC in 2002.

Lifelong Learning Through Education and Training
Dr. Neatrour’s passion for excellence is a lifelong journey. As a distinguished faculty member at Eastern Virginia Medical School since 1990 as a member of EVMS faculty, he takes joy in shaping the future of ophthalmology by training residents in refractive and cataract surgery. He also provides concierge level care to his practice where every patient is a VIP (very important patient).
This commitment to education and training ensures that patients benefit from the most advanced care available, whether they’re seeking vision correction, cataract removal, or treatment for complex eye conditions.

Dr. Neatrour’s compassion extends far beyond the clinic. He has a deep passion for serving local communities – from Virginia Beach residents to Native Americans and Veterans – and he holds a strong interest in international medical missions. His dedication to community service underscores his mission of improving lives through better vision. This personal touch is evident in his practice, where he’s treated many patients including his own family members, demonstrating his unwavering faith and confidence in the procedures he performs.
Serving Locally and Globally: Dr. Neatrour’s Impact in Eye Care
Dr. Neatrour’s community service includes his role as a volunteer faculty member at EVMS, where he staffs resident clinics and oversees surgeries as an attending physician. He also serves as Chairman of the Vision Program for Montero Medical Missions, which supports local veterans and addresses vision care needs in underdeveloped countries worldwide. Dr. Neatrour and his family have traveled to the Philippines, Peru, Ghana, and Fiji to help provide these essential services.

Affordable Eye Care and Charitable Programs
Dr. Neatrour is committed to making high-quality eye care more accessible and affordable. He works with residents at EVMS-ODU, allowing patients to pay a lower facility fee at BEC for refractive surgery and at VCES (Virginia Center for Eye Surgery) for cataract surgery. BEC also offers a charitable care program for patients without insurance who qualify financially and need treatment for medical conditions such as cataracts and glaucoma.
